Pumpkin Chuckin' Festival/Halloween!

Well this year for Halloween we did something different than we have ever done before. We went down to Moab to participate in the Pumpkin Chuckin' Festival. Joey's brother Chris and a buddy at work built this trebuchet that lanuches pumpkins. It takes about four people to get it to function properly. So Joey was recruited last year to help with it. After a year of planning and preparing they took it to Moab.
One of the stipulations of being in the contest is you have to have costumes. So the boys dressed up like Colonials.... The story goes like this... for the last four years that the pumpkin chuckin festival has taken place the team that calls themselves the Pirates has always won... Well the goal was to beat the Pirates, and the colonials don't like pirates, Hence the costume choice....
We drove down Friday night and stayed in a lodge type house with everyone and went out to eat at ZAKs it was SOOOOO GOOD!!! All you could eat Pizza, Salad, and soup! I would highly recomend it to anyone going to Moab! The boys had to be at the launch site early Saturday morning and spent the WHOLE day there. I think they had a pretty good time. I know for the hours that I was there watching it was fun!
They did a great job! They launched a pumpkin some 750 yards!!! The Pirates only Launched theirs about 375! Thats A BUTT WHOOPING!!!!
Joey helping take down the Trebuchet after a very very long day!
The Scores.....
 Getting their Pumpkin Launchin Trophie
The proud Winners! :) They came and Conqured! It was a lot of fun!
The practice Launch at home- makin sure everything is good to go!
The Final Launch!
They also Launched a Bowling ball in this bowling ball canon. It went more than 1/2 a mile pointing pretty much straight up.... Who knows what would have happened if the aimed it better! They also had some huge air cannons that launched pumpkins at a van that was pretty cool! But the videos are really long. So maybe another day-- Needless to say we had ourselves a good weekend in Moab! Congrats to the boys for beating the Pirates! :)
